First swim meet information
Dear Swim Team Families,
We are excited for our first meet of the season!
Attached you will find the event entries for each swimmer. You can also view your swimmer's events through the SwimTopia app.
Before coming to the meet, please write your swimmer's event numbers on their hand. This helps swimmers and volunteers keep everyone organized throughout the meet.
Check-In with Coaches
All swimmers should check in with the coaches before warm-ups (5:25). This helps us confirm attendance and ensure relay teams are properly organized.
Likewise, before leaving the meet, please have your swimmer check in with a coach. Relay lineups can change throughout the meet due to illness, injury, or other unforeseen circumstances. We are able to make relay adjustments right up until swimmers step onto the blocks, so it is important that we know who is available before anyone leaves.
In case of inclement weather, and we have to clear the deck, please do not leave. We will send out notifications and updates as the weather clears. If you do need to leave, please notify a member of the coaching staff.
Clerk of Course
There will be a Clerk of Course at the meet. All swimmers must check in at the Clerk of Course before each individual event. At the Clerk of Course, swimmers will receive their lane assignments and any additional instructions needed for their race.
Relay Information
Relay swimmers will be required to provide a relay card to the timers at the blocks before their race. I will have these relay cards and will distribute them to swimmers as needed.
To help everyone stay informed, I will also post relay lineups at the pool. The list will include relay assignments as well as which side of the pool each swimmer will be starting on. Please check the posted relay information throughout the meet, as relay lineups may change.
Sportsmanship and Team Spirit
One of the things that is most important to me as a coach is sportsmanship and team spirit. I encourage all of our swimmers to shake hands with their competitors at the end of each race and to remain in the water until the final swimmer in their heat has finished. These small gestures show respect for fellow athletes and represent the values of our team.
I also love seeing swimmers support one another throughout the meet. Whether they are cheering for teammates in their own age group or encouraging swimmers who are younger or older than they are, that positive team atmosphere is what makes summer swimming so special.
